     This class of racing yacht seems to have been developed about as far as can reasonably be expected. It has reachedd that point of diminishing returns, at which all good things must come to an end. . . . Not to say that the 12's were a good thing....technology just caught up with the formula and the scientists ruined it. So it is that an America's Cup era comes to an end.
