Sir Thomas Crew, Shamrock III by Rich Myers

Thos. Lipton first tried to challenge for the cup in 1888 at the age of 38, when he offered to put up the money if the boat could be designed, built and sailed by Irishmen. The offer had to be rejected simply because there were no Irish architects capable of designing a challenge. Here he is 15 years later with some of his "professionals" and his 3rd challenger in drydock.
